Beach House Kitchens
image via Southern Living
As you may have noticed, I have the beach on my mind. If you were building/planning a beach house, what would the kitchen look like? Colorful or white, sleek or cottagey?
Here are some images that I collected of beach house kitchens. Many of the images below are white kitchens with a shot of color (either floor, back splash or accessories)- a fun way to liven up any kitchen.

The blue pantry door (a former screen door) makes the kitchen - all of the fun elements flow from that door.

Blue just seems so appropriate at the beach...

The green painted floor is pretty and fun. And how about the retro pink appliances in the image below this one?
I used to have green cabinets like this in a former kitchen - it was very soothing.

This last kitchen is eye popping red - looks great with the blue from the ocean!

So, what kind of kitchen would you design for your own beach house?
oh, love those painted floors, sooo pretty.
ReplyDeleteFor my tiny beach kitchen, I used white cabinetry and appliances set against pale turquoise walls. Accents are lime green and fuchsia. I kept the floors their original terrazzo. Published Summer 2010 issue of BH&G Kitchen + Bath Makeovers, pp. 56-61. check it out!!
ReplyDeleteThat's great Becky! I'm going to find that magazine today. Congrats! Can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteIt would definitely have to be bright and airy. Subway tile backsplash, with white cabinetry and dark granite countertops. Floors would have to be hardwoods painted a subtle gray and all of the accents would be turquoises and blues. Now if I can just win the lottery....
