Woodlands at Barnsley Gardens Part II

Yesterday Woodlands was the House of the Week. Today we are stepping inside this Italianate Villa.

Covered entrance next to the veranda, on top of this was the office and tower

Drawing Room, here and below - on top of which would have been the master bedroom

Library, on top of which would have been a guest bedroom

Dining Room, on top of this room was the upper drawing room

From the DR, looking through the entrance hall to the drawing room

Side Foyer, a guest bedroom would have been above

The Pantry, bedroom on top

Photos from the museum housed in the old kitchen

  1. Wow its almost haunting seeing those beautiful relics of the past, the gorgeous brick walls and what remains of the limetstone...amazing, any idea what they are going to do with? My heart always breaks when I see these fabulous old homes become abandoned.....you just want so badly to see some one come in and resurrect it to its former splendor!
    Beautiful pictures!

  2. From what I can tell it's going to stay just like this. The gardens have been restored and are beautifully maintained. Since it's the historic part of the resort and the ruins are a draw (people come just to see the house) I think it will stay the way it is now.

  3. Yesterday, I thought how sad...this house should be restored. But now I sort of like it the way it is. It's gorgeous as a ruin, and it looks like it's being used for events. With the beautiful property and gardens, it's really striking.
