Love this Federal style new old house!
A few days ago I picked up the Spring/Summer 2011 issue of New Old House and saw this gorgeous house in Connecticut, architecture by Peter Zimmerman.
Here are a couple of teasers, but you really need to go buy this issue to see all of the amazing photographs and read about the house. Love!

Gorgeous! And it seems to be in beauitful condition...well taken care of which is always so wonderful to see, a home lovingly preserved. Will have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteThe massing is interesting, breaking up the large house so that the bulk is reduced to a smaller scale.
ReplyDeleteApparently the plan was to make the house look evolved over time, as if it had been added on to over the years. My architect did the same thing on my house. I think it works on the house pictured here. There are many more photos in the magazine spread.
ReplyDeleteThe entrance, the low flagstone wall, the box woods, the shutters are all the details that add pure charm to this home.

I'm always drawn to the classsic architecture of a federal home, and love that it was built to look old - can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteHelp!
ReplyDeleteDoes any know where to obtain that beautiful green striped wall paper in the foyer. Does that pattern have a name or does anyone know the manufacture?
